politics
I think it is amazing what is happening in our country right now. I did not vote for our now President Elect, Barak Obama- however I am coming to understand him and respect him. I greatly admire his recent actions and decisions- it is his ability to erase border lines and overcome prejudices that have been in place for centuries. He is confident and willing to shake hands with "the other side" and even welcome them aboard his sailing ship to make this world a better place. He did not appoint the people that he appointed for his own benefit and popularity but for our benefit, as a nation. That is to be admired. I am now excited and have great anticipation for what is to take place in the next four years. I have hope that this (risky as it is) team will help take this nation forward, in a new direction, with new ideas. As an American I will stand behind our God chosen leader (God said Himself- all authority is given by Him).

my job
lots of people have been asking me about my job. i guess because i haven't worked in so long, i have been a stay at home mom for over two years. now no offense to my girls but staying home alone with two children day after day, month after month can be quite mind-numbing. my days consisted of dora the explorer, diapers changes, "bites", juice, barney, toys, rinse and repeat. ugh.
so i've been working now for a couple of months and i am so incredibly happy about it. i thought i would be the mom with major separtation axiety and that i would cry everyday on the way to work (that did happen a time or two)- but i've been good! it does help that i have an awesome job where i get plenty of opportunity to have mature conversations with a wide variety of people. my job consists of many the multi-task as well, which is exactly what i do best- organized scatter-brain.
so what exactly do i do? oh, i don't know- well technically i am an office assistant at a high-end portrait studio. no, i do not take pictures : )
i do work with pictures, on the computer, ordering them, croping, mounting, framing, completing orders and customer service. i answer phones, i make spreadsheets and word documents and talk on the phone all day long. little did i know this job also included things like taking my boss' children to dance classes, school and even the doctor! i run around town doing various errands.
our fedex guy, brian, has become "part of the family" as well- well lets back up a tad... i work in the downstairs of a home, my bosses are married- rod and tanya- so it is a very homey environment- very professional as well- the studio is completely separated from their home. anyway, brian is there most days and takes his lunch with us usually and we joke around and eat pistachios everytime he comes (why? i dunno) but pistachios, yes. the other thing brian brings is arby's. always arby's- never anything else. yes, our fedex guy swings by arby's before he birngs us our pictures- oh and he gave everyone nicknames. reflections by tanya (because that is the name of the studio) rejections by rod (cause he thought it was fitting) concoctions by cy (their son- and i won't say why) i am adorations by alicia- (obviously because i'm adorable in so many ways- ha!) even daniel, my husband has been deemed "dominations by daniel" because he is so latin and dominant? who knows.
my bosses treat my family and i like part of their family- it is a true pleasure to go to work everyday. The location, the distance, the pay, etc... I could go on- truely an answer to prayer- so now when people ask me and i kinda just say "hummmmm, i work at a portrait studio"- now you know the rest of the story. : )

Here I am. I won't do a famous alicia novel to begin. I'm just here to say "I'm here"
Tonight we are going to the Johnson's for a thanksgiving with friends. We are so looking forward to it. A lot of us can use a new start- things have gotten "jumbled" of late in our little group. I am looking forward to the kids playing together and hearing Kristin and Lindsey's laughs. I love how they laugh- contagious! I'm looking forward to seeing how Macy did her hair- I love Macy's hair- I always have. I want to give Margie a big hug and talk about babies with her- since hers is coming along quickly. I know Beth will be glowing like she always is. I love her sense of humor, I love that she is our pastor's wife and she's not afraid to be herself. She's my hero!
This sounds wierd- (but get used to that if you're going to read my blog because I am painfully honest)- I hope tonight stays shallow. I don't want any deep conversations, just ones that make me chuckle and I hope I can have seconds too. I love food and lots of it. I'm terrible.
So, I better go get ready. I've still got to make what I'm bringing, tame this crazy Irish hair and get the diaper bags packed.
Alrighty, talk to you later.
